Is Cortizone Safe In The Treatment Of Radiculopathy?
Hello My daughter has been diagnosed with L5 S1 Radiculopathy. She is a college volleyball player. It has been recommended we try physical therapy as well as an spinal cathet(d)er epidural. He also recommended fish oil and turmeric. I am very nervous about the cortizone epidural. Are they fairly common and fairly safe? Thanks for your time.
Yes, cortisol (corticosteroid) injection is one of the best treatment for radiculopathy. But make sure that given by an experienced doctor. It has no systemic side effects like hypertension, osteoporosis, diabetes etcetera. So no need to worry about side effects. And it has good outcomes in terms of symptomatic relief.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Kaushal Bhavsar
