Is Cyclobenzaprine Advisable For Severe Pain In Ankles?

All stemming from a car accident 8 yrs ago when I nearly severed off my right foot.. Breaking both ankles, both fibula, tibia, my left patella, and organ inside.. Leaving me in a coma for a month and a 5 month hospital stay.. I ve now since rebroken my left ankle yet again 3yrs ago and installed a metal plate and this past winter had reconstructive surgery on the same ankle yet again.. I now believe I have Achilles tendinitis in both ankles.. Along with fat pad syndrome in my right heel. Would the drug cyclobenzaprine help with the pain til I get to the podiatrist on Thursday? And till I make my appt with my pain management doctor. I thought I could do all this with no pain meds being as I have no insurance.. And the meds that did work wonders were an entire paycheck. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hello,

You have a history of accident 8 yrs ago and had reconstructive surgery done with a metal plate installed in the left ankle. Now, you have discomfort & pain in the ankles. For relieve from pain you should combine anti inflammatory with cyclobezaprine. You may not take the medicines together. Take anti inflammatory 2-3 hours after taking cyclobezaprine to avoid any drug interaction.

Cyclobezaprine causes drowsiness so be careful after you have taken the medication. Always take medicines after food. Reconstructive surgeries may take a long time to recover, inadequate healing of a ligament / tendon or incomplete rehabilitation of the affected ligament can result in instability of the ankle.

Take adequate rest, avoid activities that puts too much stress on the tendon / ligament. Negligence may lead to micro-injury of the tendon / ligament or fibers. Be patient as the wound heals, use crutches to avoid nerve damage, infection, ankle joint stiffness, and recurrent instability. You need follow up examinations. Visit your treating doctor at the earliest.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
