Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi Dr, My whole life i ve struggled to gain weight, I am 19 years old and weigh 49 kgs and have one baby. I breast fed him and thats when I noticed I started to lose weight down to 45 kgs. I was reading about cyproheptadine and thought this might be my best solution to gain more weight. please help
I see that you re breastfeeding your baby. So I would not recommend using Cyproheptadine. This medication is not recommended in breastfeeding mother. I suggest to follow healthy lifestyle. Some recommendations are: Eat protein foods 2-3 times per day such as meat, poultry, fish, eggs, dairy, beans, nuts and seeds. Eat three servings of vegetables, including dark green and yellow vegetables per day. Include whole grains such as whole wheat breads, pasta, cereal and oatmeal in your daily diet.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
