Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I d like to know if this combination is safe. I take 50mg of Lisdexamfetamine dimesylate (Vyvanse), Monday through Friday (mornings). Would it pose a threat to my health if I were to take a dose of DayQuil now? Vyvanse was taken ~6 hours ago. Dosage of DayQuil contains 325mg acetaminophen, 10mg dextromethorphan, and 5mg phenylephrine HCl. Thank you.
The Phenylephrine present in this formulation can interact with Vyvanse (Lisdexamfetamine) which can increase BP and heart rate, and combining them may enhance these effects.
Consult your doctor before using these medications, especially if you have a history of high BP or heart disease. You may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring by your doctor to safely use both medications.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali

Is DayQuil Safe To Be Taken While On Vyvanse?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. It is not a safe combination if taken together. DayQuil which contains Acetaminophen, Dextromethorphan, & Phenylephrine is commonly used for the symptomatic relief of symptoms of cold and fever.
