Is Diclofenac Potassium Effective In The Treatment Of Joint Pain?
Hi I have been prescribed a NSAID called Diclofenac Potassium 50 mg. Is this a stronger medication than Naprosyn or Motrin? i am experiencing joint swelling and pain in my elbow and knee. I have taken both of those before, they help the swelling and pain, but have not completely controlled the soreness and stiffness in these joints. Is this new drug more likely to have side effects, and will it possibly help more? Thanks
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It works in principally the same way as Naprosyn. Side effects are the same, most important of which are heartburn and stomach ulcer. If you have a heart condition or kidney disease, you should only use these drugs with caution and after consulting a specialist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards
Dr. Anders Mark Christensen
