Is Diclofenac Sodium Gel Advisable While Having Heart Disease, COPD And Diabetes?
I have been diagnosed with heart disease, cerebral seizures and am also diabetis (insulin dependent) and have COPD. I am scheduled for back surgery at the end of this month. The possible side effects from the Diclofenac Sodium 3 gel concern me. Is it safe for me to use this?
Co-morbidities like in your case is a major obstacle when prescribing medicines due to possible interaction with other drugs you might have been taking and side effects of drug which can worsen your existing problem.
Diclofenac gel is for external use only which means that you can apply to skin and not ingest it. Such medicines usually have only local side effects like rash, pruritus or local allergic reaction to skin.
Diclofenac gel rarely cause stomach problems like nausea and diarrhea and it is unlikely to have any effect on your heart, lung or sugar problems. Also it doesn't have any interaction with drugs you are taking orally.
You can safely use diclofenac gel for your pain relief but use only over skin. and if you experience any local side effects like rash or an allergic reaction, stop using the drug and see you local doctor immediately.
I shall be happy to help you if you need my further assistance. Dr. Ali Raza
