Is Digoxin Or Metoprolol Better For High Heart Rate?
My husband is taking coreg 12.5mg. twice a day, his heart rate is running too high (while he s having a panic attack) He was on metoprolol tartrate. If I give him a small amount of metoprolol 25mg or 50mg, is it safe to do so? Or digoxin .25mg or half of one? He s going in for pcp appt. 10:30am tomorrow. Carol
Metoprolol in the dose of 25 mg or less may be given till you seek PCP consultation for your husband.
But remember for the treatment of panic attacks he needs to evaluated by his PCP or psychiatrist and drugs like Selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors (SSRIs) which are safe and effective may be prescribed by the doctors.
Hope this will help.
