Is Diltiazem Medicine The Cause For Joints And Hip Pain?

my mother just starting taking Diltiazem xt 120mg this past month and now has really bad joint pains and a hip pain that is out of this world. She wasn t having this pain last month before diltiazem, so could this be a side effect? how common? and if it is and she switches back to a beta blocker how soon should these possible side effects reverse or go away?

Understanding your concern. As per your query you are wondering if Diltiazem medicine the cause for the joints and hip pain . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like bursitis , infectious , tendinitis , infection of the bone or fibromyalgia . The joint and hip pain is nor known to caused by Diltiazem medicine . So i would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order blood test , physical examination , CT scan or MRI . Doctor may prescribe anti inflammatory , muscle relaxant , methotrexate along with physical therapy and stretching exercises .
