Is Doxycycline The Right Medicine For Viral Infection?

I am currently taking Doxycycline for a viral infection. I began taking it on Mon. afternoon. Since that time, I have had terrible pressure in my head when I cough or bend over. Most of the time, when I cough, I have to hold the side of my head because of the pain. Is this normal?

Thanks for contacting HCM with your health concern

1. Doxycycline is an antibiotic of Tetracycline group often prescribe for bacterial infection and will not work in viral infection [such as common cold, flu] so taking the same for your pathology will only lead to decreased effectiveness .

2. As you have to hold your head when coughing/bending over check with a Neurologist Opinion for any neurological sign's as weakness of limbs or cranial nerves, who might ask for CT-Head

3. You may ask for prescription medicines [which are clindamycin, minocycline, bactrim]
