Is Dulcolax Effective In Treating Constipation?

Hi, I have been constipated for about 10 days. I have very mild piles. When trying to go to the toilet the stool gets stuck coming out because of it s size, It s hard and dry. I have been taking lactulose for a day so far and ( 3 doses a day) I have the sensation to go toilet but it gets stuck. Can I now switch medication to dulcolax or will it make it worse?

Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.

you can switch over to Dulcolax,if lactulose fails to act.
Dulcolax, or bisacodyl is a stimulant laxative drug that produces a bowel movement. It induces a bowel movement within 6–10 hours when given orally .It has minimal systemic absorption and appears to be safe for acute and long-term use. You can take 2 Dulcolax(5 mg)tablets at bed-time to soften your stool. Also increase your dietary fibre and fluid intake.
