Is Dytora Good Alternative Of Lasix?

My mother is a hypertensive and has been taking Amtas 5mg BD and lasix 20 mg BD along with 5 salt capsules/ day and she has been pretty stable with it. Recently for a bout of gastritis when she was admitted in the hospital, in the duscharge summary the medication has been changed to dytor 10 mg OD and 3 salt capsules/ day. The dosage of Amtas remains same. Please suggest if both have same effect. Am a little apprehensive of changing her medicines. Please suggest if i can continue with lasix or should let her take dytor. Thanks in advance Shalini

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The effects of dytor are very similar to lasix. So I hope it works as good as was lasix doing. As for the change was made by doctors caring for her there must be some reason for that. So I would advise you better continue with daytor. Any time you feel you can talk to your doctor in this regards but as a rule, the effect for blood pressure control won't be a lot change with this drug. So no worries.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman
