ESR is Erythrocyte sedimentation rate that is the rate at which the red blood cells settle when the blood is kept in a specific Tube used for the test.The increase in ESR shows there is some infection or some problem like Anaemia going on inside the body.The normal ESR in women is upto 20mm so even 27 is not very high and can be due to anaemia.Please see if the haemoglobin is less.
