Is Embeda Advisable For Severe Back Pain Caused Due To Scoliosis?
I have severe back pain due to scoliosis..so bad that I couldn t work a regular job..I was diagnosed at the age of 14 yrs old..shortly after quitting gymnastics after working out every day for almost 3 hrs after school and saurtdays..I use to compete all over Texas to try for the Olympics..we moved to Germany..I quit cause I didn t want to compete against the U.S.A...my body grew 1ft. 6 inches in 1 year my spine had no where to go..i have been on hydrochodone for 10 yrs doesn t work anymore..now they are putting me on embeda 30..what is this?
Embeda 30 is morphine / naltrexone, a group of narcotic analgesic used for the chronic non responsive pain such as your back pain from scoliosis. The only way that would help is suppressing the pain centers, rather than I would suggest you to consult an expert pain management specialist who can guide you for epidural analgesic which will be devoid of systemic side effects of such narcotic agents.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
