Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have ankylosing spondylitis and I take enbrel for that. My knee has a horizontal cleavage tear with a cyst. My orthopedic surgeon would not operate because he said the pain was not from the meniscal tear . The pain is on the side, front, and back of my knee. It hurts so much after 2 days of work that I could cry. I started enbrel 2 weeks ago. My rheumatologist said the enbrel would not help the knee and the ortho said to go on enbrel and your knee won t hurt so much. I can t stand the pain what do I do? I am on my feet all day for my job.
Enbrel (etanercept) is an approved drug for the treatment of ankylosing spondylitis. Thus, I think it might be beneficial for you to try this treatment.
On the other hand, because of Enbrel affecting the immune system, it is important that you are under the close supervision of a doctor during the time you use it and let your doctor know as soon as possible for any sign of infection.
I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
