Is Epidural Patch Required For Headache?

I did a lumbar puncture on Friday. I went to the ER the next day as I was having a bad headache. They gave me caffeine. My doctor who did the procedure on me asked me to take 3 advils on Monday through tueday spaced 6 hours 3 times. I don;t have a headache like the day I went to the ER. But I do have some stiffness in my neck and a little heaviness of head. Do I need an Epidural patch ? OR will this get better ?

Hello,

It is a spinal headache and it will persist for few weeks.

As of now you can take over the counter available analgesics like paracetamol or diclofenac for symptomatic relief. Drink plenty of water as it will help with pain relief. Patch repair is the last resort and it will be done in extreme cases only.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain
