General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Epilim (sodium valproate is an anticonvulsant medicine that is commonly prescribed to treat epilepsy, chronic migraine, etc. It is also prescribed as a mood stabilizer. You are suggested to get him clinically examined by a GP, get required blood tests and investigation, imaging tests done to detect head injuries, concussions, trigeminal nerve activation, etc.

Other medical conditions that can trigger headache are hormones, genetics, fibromyalgia, dehydration, sensitivity to light, sinusitis, hypertension, etc. Get the underlying medical condition diagnosed and treated at the earliest. His treatment will depend on the pathology diagnosed. For relief, he can take NSAIDs or triptans, sumatriptans for relief. He should keep himself well hydrated, avoid food and things that triggers headache, avoid direct exposure to sunlight, limit caffeine, alcohol, stop smoking, etc.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
