hello doctor........i have been using yasmin pills to stop pregnancy since 1 month and want to use it for 1 year as i dont want to conceive early.....but recently i have been suffering from right hand pain severely..... doctor tested and there is no problem of bones or nerves but the pain is not reducing....doctor said to stop the contraceptive pills as the pain may be due to them ....what to do now...shall i take any other tablets which r safe....my sister used femilon and she had no side effects....do i use femilon...is it safe?
Hello Yasmin is a low dose oral contraceptive pill with anti androgenic properties , that's why in few patient it produces pain ( however it is uncommon ) . Anyway , you are having pain after one month of its use , so you can use another oral contraceptive i.e femilon . This is a combination of hormones e.g. desogestrel + ethinylestradiol , usually this don't produces such type of pain as you were feeling with yasmin . Minor side effects , you may feel as intermenstrual bleeding or breast tenderness or enlargement or mild degree secretions but these side effects are transient and just for short period . Once a while this tablet will adjust in body. Good luck.
