Hello,
Management of AF is not very simple. There are many drugs, many options, like whom to revert to normal rhythm? and whom to just control rate , .Similarly which patients to take a blood thinner?
So I mean to say its never a one for everyone option so the doctor needs to access which is best for a particular patient.
Generally, we use soralol
amiodarone or
flecainide for Af, but which one to use depends on every patient.
Similarly, not all a patient needs blood thinning, and the doctor would assess a patient detail as for whether he needs blood thinning or not.
And whether the benefit of blood thinning is more (to avoid blood clotting which is common in AF) or the risk of bleeding.
So these all parameters are seen and a doctor then decides how to go for the management.
So I understand, that you stick to your plain, and yes you can discuss the risks and benefits and you may definitely be involved in the decision.
Your point of individualization is absolutely right and that's what we generally do while managing Pt with Af.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
