Is Fleet Enema Right Replacement For Phospho Soda Enema?
Hi, I have a sigmoidoscopy tomorrow at noon. (It is 11;30 pm now...) It is recommended I use a phosphasoda enema twice before the procedure. I have been unsuccessful in finding these enema kits, and would like to know if a fleet enema is the same thing, or at least is it an adequate replacement? Thank you
Fleet Phospho-Soda, is an oral sodium phosphate solution "OSPS" while phosphoSoda enema(sometimes marketed with the neme of Kleen Enema) is administered through the rectum. Rectal enema is more efficient and better choice. It decreases water absorption from surface of bowels/large intestine and increase flushing and cleaning of the colon to be examined properly. Oral preparation OSPS has more risk of renal toxicity than rectal preparations. But if you are totally unable to find rectal preparation then you can go for oral preparation too. Its ok to use. But FDA warns of side effects. Hope your colonoscopy is eventless and smooth going procedure with no positive results. Have a nice time. Happy to see you again if needed !!!
