Good Morning DR, I am a Registered Nurse who is diagnosed with Osteoporosis. I am very healthy, all my test results are negative for etiology for bone loss. I eat well ,I am encouraged to start taking fosimax and worry about side effects . My primary MD very concerned I am a high risk for vertebral fractures. Any thoughts on this drug or experience using it on your patients? Thank You

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per my clinical experience, by prescribing Fosamax for the patients with osteoporosis, there has been no high level incidences of osteoporosis when taken under guidance in scheduled doses.

Thanks.

Dr. Purva
