Is Gluformin Advisable For Elevated Blood Sugar Levels?
Recently i got the diagnostic tests done and my fasting blood sugar was 141, post prandial at 198 and HBA1C at 6.8. Doctor advised me to take Gluformin XL 500 for 3 months and asked me to repeat the above tests. i started this medicine a week back consuming after breakfast. My question is, am i diabetic? Please let me know is this the right medicine?
your fbs is 141. we are diagnosed diabetics when fasting blood sugar level more than 126 on two differents times. but your HbA1c level is also more than 6.5 which gives an idea regarding mean blood sugar level in past 3 months. so it is suggestive of diabetics. first line treatment for diabetics is metformin unless you are a very thin person or having kidney failiure. so your doctor's prescription is correct. you can check your fasting blood sugar after one month and show the report to your doctor , then he can adjust the dose.
