hi. my exposure took place on May 31st 2015 and then again on June 2nd I then when I got tested on June 11th and she informed me that the test would catch anything unless it was in the last two weeks or so. the test from June 11th came back the next week and they were negative. I then went and got tested again at the doctor on July 20th and Those results came back the next day and they came back negative again for HIV and that was at 7 weeks so is that test accurate? my doc said I didn t need further testing.
Hello welcome to HCM and thanks for asking a query
I can understand your problem. A lot of individuals develop fear of HIV following unprotected sexual intercourse. You had intercourse about 7 weeks back and got tested thrice and every time tests came negative. If we consider tests for HIV then Western Blot, P24 antigen tests have sensitivity of almost 99% and the test is also very rapid. It can detect HIV as early as 2 weeks. Your exposure was 7 weeks back so I don't think there is need to worry because the tests came negative.
Please try to have protected sexual intercourse in future.
Thanks, hope this helps. Take care
