Is HIV Transmission Possible Through Inanimate Objects?
Hi there, Incident happened over the weekend (Friday 5th June 2015). I work at a restaurant and towards the end of the night a colleague that i work with came in on his day off and started drinking with the boss. They both got very drunk. As i was finishing cleaning, both of them cornered me and my colleague (not the boss) stuck a Vicks nose inhaler up my nose (both nostrils) and made me breath it in. He was so drunk he was telling me that it was Katimine (even though i knew it wasnt and tried to resist but obviously it did not work). After about 4 to 5 minutes this happened i went to the toilet and blew my nose (probably hard) as i felt discusted and wanted to clean my nose. Some blood came out. My nose has been a bit sensitive because it is winter here (Australia) and have had some previous bleeding earlier in the day cause of the cold weather. I have been reading a lot on the internet and there are a quiet a few different advise and some that are contradicting. I am terrified and do not know if HIV can be contracted this way. Everything happened so fast but feel 60% to 70% certain that i could not see any visible blood. I know they were mucking around (he was) and also drunk. Next time i am at work i want to confront him and ask him a few of my questions so that i can feel a bit at ease however i do not know how honest he will be. I do not know his status, i do not know his level of Promiscuity behaviours and if he is save when it comes to it. Thank you so much for your advice.
It is very difficult for HIV to survive outside the human body. You shouldn't worry about HIV transmission in this situation. Of course, you must take precautions.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
