Is HPV Vaccine Effective After Unprotected Intercourse?
I have a boyfriend who wants to live with me. I am 63 and he is 49. We ve known each other for 30 years. I ve been monogamous in a marriage for over 40 years. He divorced his wife of 20 years and has been with other women in the past. 6 years ago we had unprotected sex and the following summer I had hpv. I have not had a trace of hpv since. I also had a colonoscopy a year ago and they removed 3 small tubular adenamous polyps. We both tested negative for stis. He likes sex a lot. He wants to have unprotected sex. 1. What do you suggest we do for sex? 2. Would the hpv vaccine help me - I found a place that said they would give it to me Please advise
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
HPV vaccine doesn't gives protection after unprotected intercourse. It is normally given to girls girls aged 12 to 13. As much as half the population will be infected at some time in their life. Most cases the virus doesn't do any harm because your immune system gets rid of the infection. Cervical screening is advised to you, as you previously had HPV infection. Cervical screening is a way of picking up abnormal cells in the cervix before they progress to cancer.
