Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Hydrocodone Intake Safe When Suffering From Hepatic Encephalopathy?
My husband fell & hurt his back. He had some hydrocodone left from dentist or something. Since these pills were prescribed he has been diagnosed with hepatic encephalopathy as a result of cirrhosis of the liver. Will taking one hydrocodone worsen his condition?
His condition would not be worsened by taking a single pill. However, I will recommend that he seeks medical consultation to receive a full prescription and make sure there is nothing else concerning about the back that needs to be addressed like a fracture. Sorry to hear about this encephalopathy and hope he's receiving lactulose or some other medication to help with this.
I hope this helps. I wish him well. Thank you for using our services and feel free to ask for more information if need be. Dr. Ditah, MD.
