Is Hydrocortisone Cream Advisable For A Hemorrhoid?
I have a hemorrhoid that has been sore for a few days, I have tried Proctosedyl cream, with very little relief. I now have a case of thrush due to antibiotics for strep throat and the flu. I bought canesten clotrimazole and hydrocortisone cream and a 6 day trush treatment pack and am wondering if I can apply the hydrocortisone cream to the haemorrhoid?
Hydrocortisone is a steroid cream and it is not recommended for hemorrhoids, infact it is contraindicated for hemorrhoids. It might worsen the conditions and may cause skin irritation and bleeding. You can try pilants cream or other local anesthetic creams for better results.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
