Is Hydromet Syrup The Right Medicine For Throat Irritation And Cough?

Hello, I am curious to know if Hydromet syrup which my doctor prescribes to me, on a semi regular basis, for the throat irritation and cough that never quite goes away. I get sick maybe once a month or so as well. Where it is always the same symptoms. Is it out of reach to see if this along with an inhaler can be prescribed for flare ups? This specific type is the only thing that doesn t upset my stomach and gives me the relief I need to go thru the day and rest in the evening time durring flare ups. No history of asthma or copd. Effective way to deal with flare ups?

Hi,

Hydromet syrup contains both hydrocodone and homatrophine methylbromide that is used for the symptomatic relief of cough. This medication should be used for the shortest duration because of the risks of addiction, abuse and misuse with opioids, even at recommended doses as it contains hydrocodone or opioids. Again, using this medication too frequently or increasing it's dose may aggravate some serious side effects like respiratory depression. If you suffer from cough frequently, then reevaluate the cause of the cough and assess the need for continued treatment with Hydromate. Before start or stop taking this medication, you should consult your doctor first and without your doctor's permission you should not take it.
