Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is IBS Related With Abdominal Pain And Mucus Stools?
I have occasional dull ache in my lower abdomen on the left side. This is usually after eating spicy food or drinking coffee and is sometimes accompanied by slight mucus in stools. It is eased by taking peppermint capsules. Is this likely to be IBS? I am a female polio survivor, wheelchair dependent aged 65 weighing 9 stone with significant scoliosis. I depend on night time ventilation by IPAP.I also have acid reflux treated with omeprazole and gaviscon.
HI Well come to HCM I really appreciate your concern, if you do have history of mucus in stool at the time of defecation so this is not because of any IBS, if there is no any other clinical sign and symptoms are there then this is just nothing to worry, you can continue Omeprazole 40 mg once in day, do not exer the force while defecating, hope this information helps, take care.
