Is IGF Level Of 279 A Cause For Concern?

Hello doctor Am bit worried bout my increased IGF 1 levels. I had pituitary macroadenoma and successfully treated last year. But a lesion arises after surgery....for Thad I had gama knife surgery in march 15. Before surgery my IGF1 was 898 but after surgery it continually fell down to 303....279...and then.199 finally. Am on sandostatin lar 20 mg for last 2 months. Recently my IGF increased to 279...Is this a major concern to be discussed with the doctor. Plz suggest. Ur suggestion is highly valuable. Thanks

Hello,

From your description, I am of the opinion that a one-off increase in IGF-1 after your surgery need not cause any worries. If you are chronically tested as increased or increasing IGF-1 day by day, then you should consult your doctor and would be advised a scan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ashish Ranjan, General & Family Physician
