Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My wife recently had a missed miscarriage ... it is the second miscarriage she is having . Both occurred around the same time (ie last weeks of her first trimester).. As a part of follow up her gynecologist recommended some blood tests . Apart from other tests we were told to do Igg test for Rubella.. and it came out positive where she had an igg greater than 500 ioU..What does this mean.. does it mean my wife recently had an rubella infection?
* As per my clinical experience, the Rubella infection many times provoke viral symptoms of malaise, body ache, low grade fever, myalgia with or without rash on the body.
* Many of the times, even Rubella goes unnoticed.
* The presence of IgG of Rubella indicates previous infection with Rubella with development of antibodies, while that of recent infection pause raised level of IgM antibodies.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
