Welcome to HCM I have read and understood your query Hope it may help Though the main stay of treatment is IV antibiotics in aspiration pneumonia.Other measures taken for symptomatic relief are removal of the irritating material which was inhaled, brochodilators and sometimes ventilation.Though steroids are advised sometimes to decrease the swelling of respiratory passage ways to comfort breathing. In my opinion you should start the treatment as directed by the docto. It will help relieve the symptoms and improve his condition. I will be happy to know if it was helpful. You can approach us anytime with another query Regards Dr Faeza Sherdil
