Is Incruse Ellipta A Bronchodilator?

Is Incruse a broncodilator? How does it compare to Spiriva? Are they the same class of medication? My Dad is using Incruse right now, receiving samples from his MD, but his insurance will not cover the cost of an Rx. He has had severe reactions to inhaled steroids, from hallucinations to uncontrolled crying and hoarseness after just a few days. He has taken prednisone in the past so we did not expect this reaction. Anyhow, I am considering asking his MD if he can try Spiriva if it is in the same class and covered by his insurance as he cannot count on samples forever. Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Incruse Ellipta is a bronchodilator. Spirivia is also a bronchodilator, which works by opening and relaxing air passages to the lungs in order to make breathing easier.

So yes, you can ask your doctor for a prescription of Spiriva.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Prabhash Verma,
