Is Itraconazole Effective In The Treatment Of Skin Rashes?

I have a small heart murmur and have had my aortic heart valve replaced. Right now I have been having horrible rashes. My doctor had me on Nystatin cream. I ve used it about 2 weeks. It has helped but not eliminated the problem. Apparently the next step is to take an oral pill called itraconazole. I am nervous about all the possible side effects. Any suggestions?I m also having a tooth out tomorrow and am already a bit emotional. Cindy

Hello,

Iitraconazole medicine has got the following complications and is to be avoided in these cases:
1) Ventricular dysfunction (Congestive heart failure)
2) Pregnancy
3) Kidney and liver failure

Please check your left ventricular function with the help of 2D ECHO. Or else at least consult your cardiologist and discuss about Iitraconazole.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
