Is Keflex Drug Related To Penicillin?

I am allergic to penicillin[ hives, antiphilactic reaction, nearly died as a kid taking it. I am due for a prostate biopsy Feb. 5th and one of the antibiotics my urologist has prescribed is KEFLEX. Is this drug ''related'' to penicillin and given what I have described should I take it?
