Is Kenalog Injection Right Treatment For Allergic Reaction For Gabapentin?

Hi: Three weeks ago I took Gabepentin for inner nerves, took 1 for 2 nites. the third nite I noticed a red rash on my inner elbows, then my tender parts of my body. I stopped it. It s 3 weeks later and it s not going away. I itch and am getting sore. My Doctor gave me a Kenolog injection yesterday. When can I expect results? Or, do I have to do more? Charlotte

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

If the allergy has been caused by gabapentin then it would have gone in 3 weeks time. I would advice you to take one tablet of Avil (pheniramine maleate) or Cetirizine once or twice daily for 3 days and if the condition persists then visit a dermatologist and get other causes ruled out.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
