Is Lasix Advisable While Taking Flomax?

Hi is it ok to take lasix while taking Flomax? I take Lasix because I just had a blood patch and went into rebound hypertension, I have been on it for 6days. I take Flomax for kidney stones, I have been on it for 2 months. I am having trouble breathing and irregular heart rate/elevated heart rate.

Dr. Hanif warmly welcomes you with thanks for a consult!

I have carefully worked through your case, and can well realize your health worries. Being your physician, I want to assure, I will take care all of your medical concerns according to the latest medical guidelines.

Flomax (Tamsulosin) is mainly used for the prostatic enlargement issues and difficulty in urinating due to the enlarged prostate.

Lasix is Furosemide and is used as a diuretic i.e it causes a lot of urine production and is given to the hypertensive patients to keep the blood volume and so blood pressure in limits. It also provides relief to the heart by lowering the volume and pressure of blood in the closed circulatory system. It helps relieving difficulty breathing if that is due to right heart issues or lungs itself. It drenches the fluid accumulated in the lungs that may be causing the difficulty breathing.

If a patient has got not a major issue of urinary blockage at the level of neck of bladder and prostatic urethral level (or anywhere in the urinary drainage system) we can use both the medications without any harm.

If you are prescribed by a Physician, you may take it as he must have got clear indications for the medications.
