Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Librium Advisable Post Withdrawal From Oxycontin And Alcohol?
I have been drinking approximately 1/5 of vodka every day for the last 15 years and I also take approximately 120 mg of OxyContin each day but I am wanting to stop both completely what would you recommend that I do. I am hopeful based off of everything I have researched if Librium or the generic brand of Librium may be perfect for me? Please give me your input because I am absolutely sincere in wanting to stop the alcohol consumption and the opiates. But, I must say I have to keep this private and that s why I am asking you for your advice due to the fact I cannot make my issue public.
As per my clinical experience, the Librium contains Chlordiazepoxide which alters the levels of chemicals in the brain via specific pathways. It is used in anxiety disorders as well as symptoms of alcohol withdrawal in many of the instances. However, every individual case demand is different and the clinician is the best decision maker so far as the therapy molecules are concerned.
* I would like you to consult an expert addiction specialist for the final word of comments and guide accordingly.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
