Is Lisinopril-HCTZ Effective In The Treatment For Elevated BP?

I recently received a prescription renewal from Humana, but I don t think it is the right medicine. What I received is LISINOPRIL/HCTZ 10-12.5MG TAB. It is a blue hexagon pill. I believe this is the anti-depressant medicine I took in December, ordered from my hometown pharmacy. The medicine I need is for blood pressure, Lisinopril-Hydrochlorothiazide. Can this be amended?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Lisinopril belongs to angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor class, which is used primarily in treatment of high blood pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) is a diuretic medication often combined with ACE inhibitor to treat high blood pressure. Hence, both these medications in combination would help to reduce blood pressure. Kindly take the medication as advised and do the follow-up as advised by your doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
