Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Recently started Losartan 100 mg once per day to control high bp and diabetic 2 neuropathy in both feet. Soon after starting Spartan developed systems of gout. Can losartan cause a continual gout symptoms? Also having serious shoulder pains and lower back pain since starting losartan.
Hello dear Understand your concern. Losartan is angiotensin II receptor blocker used to treat hypertension. There is no reported symptoms of gout with losartan. Following are side effects of losartan: Fever, cold Tiredness, fatigue, muscle pain , back pain. dry cough Headache, dizziness and confusion
So i think shoulder pain and back pain is due to losartan as a side effcts. But not gout symptoms.
For gout first check the uric acid level and synovial fluid microscopy. Hope this may help you Best regards Dr. Sagar
