Is Luvox Recommended For OCD And Anxiety Disorder?

Hi. Originally I was given Luvox for an OCD/Anxiety disorder. I gained 20 pounds without changing my eating habits or excercise routine. I went off of the medication for about 3 months. In that three months I lost 14 of the 20 pounds. After wanting to try another med, I took Zoloft for 2 months. I gained 20 more pounds from that. I am currently 28 pounds over my normal in shape weight and have not lost a pound since stopping Zoloft on Dec 2, 2010. I do all the right things ( Watch caloric intake, excercise and lift weights ). I'd like to know what the heck has this medicine done to me? and is there an average time frame of when the weight should start to come off? Thank You

Hi,
Thanks for using HealthCareMagic.

Luvox and zoloft both indicated for OCD and anxiety disorder. In OCD they required in higher doses.
Generally weight gain due to these medicines are due to relatively more eating by the person not due to metabolic changes. As these medicines are antidepressant and person feels netter and started eating more about which person him/herself is not aware.
If your weight is stable since gain, you should consult doctor/dietitian for your calorie intake and burning. Until there is no significant calorie deficient continuously and regularly weight loss is not possible.
You can check the same by counting your daily routine activity consume how much calorie and calorie of food intake. If you can't,consult doctor to help you in weight loss.
You can surely lose weight which you have gained after zoloft.
Hope I have answered your query.
