Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was told I have a colony or MRSA in my right lung and we are not going to treat now since I was treated this summer with several strong antibiotics; this happened like 2 months post hosp 10 day stay for pneumonia and rec iv therapy; can my family catch mrsa from me now?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Streptococcal infection is contagious and can spread by air borne route. You can prevent its spread by wearing mask covering nose and oral cavity. Although other family members get exposed to bacteria, not all may develop infection. Some of them in whom there is a risk like decreased immunity would develop infection. Hence, it is better that you get it treated at the earliest. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
