Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been experiencing all the symptoms of MS for the past few months and it was thought to be a reasonable prognosis. However when I got a spinal tap the panel came back normal. I read that it was possible but rare to still have MS even tho the panel was normal. Is it possible to still have it? Or are there similar diseases to MS??
In people with confirmed diagnosis of MS, 5-10% do not show abnormality in the CSF. Therefore, CSF testing alone is not final to confirm or rule out MS. The results of CSF should be collaborated with the history and neurological finding as well as with the results of blood tests, and MRI to reach at an accurate diagnosis.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Satnarain Bansal, General & Family Physician
