I was prescribed Macrobid last year for a bladder infection to take twice daily. I was given the generic nitrofuriton. I couldn t take this because of the severe debilitating headache it gave me. Now my doctor has prescribed Macrodantin once daily at bedtime for maintenance, possibly 3 months or longer. She told me the two medicines were different although in the same family. But I was told by my pharmacy that the generic was the same for both. I am unsure if I want to try it again. What should I do?
