Is Marijuana Advisable While Taking Doxycycline?

iv e been puking every other time I take doxycycline and I was wondering if I could use a little marijuana to help with the nausea. I know it would effect how the medicine would be absorbed but I figured it would be better than throwing up the medication.

Hello there,
Have gone through your query and the problem you have mentioned is a fairly common one.Higher antibiotics cause nausea which is very annoying and can sometimes lead to vomiting but my friend taking marijuana only to control nausea and vomiting is not advised.Marijuana has many adverse effects such as breathing problems ,increased heart rate, hallucinations,paranoia,anxiety ,depression ...to name a few apart from the fact that it is addictive.The side effects out weigh the positive effect like decrease in nausea and vomiting.Its not advisable.

There are potent and safe drugs available to control nausea and vomiting.My advice to you would be
1. Complete your full course of doxycycline.
2. For nausea and vomiting you can take domperidone or metoclopromide or ondansetron.( Tab.Domstal/Tab.Zofer/Tab.Vomikind).These will control your nausea and vomiting.
3. If u feel nauseating you can avoid vomiting by sipping slowly on some fruit juice except orange or grape juice or sipping on some soda.
4.After taking the doxycycline avoid sleeping immediately.
5. Take the tab with some water,dont swallow it witout water.It may cause vomiting.
