Is Medrol The Right Medication For Upper Respiratory Infection?

I was diagnosed with an upper respitory infection on Monday (through 1800md per my insurance policy) and started a medrol dose pack yesterday. Also and taking mucinex. My cough seems to be getting worse and I still have a low grade fever, sinus congestion and shortness of breath. Also coughing up phlegm. Should I go see my PCP? Or wait longer?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Upper respiratory tract infection is commonly caused by viruses and does not need treatment most of the time. However, if there is shortness of breath or lot of phlegm, then we generally recommend seeing a doctor for proper chest examination and x-ray. So, yes you should see your doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman,
