Is Meftal Spas Advisable For Heavy Menstrual Bleeding With Clots?
Hi, I have heavy bleeding and clot issue and my periods come in 20-21 days and my periods last for 6-7 day I have done sonography and every thing is normal Doc prescribed me gynac cvp and meftal spas. I want to know do I need to take these tablets every month and if yes does it have any side effects?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Meftal Spas tablet contains active ingredients namely Mefenamic Acid and Dicyclomine. It is commonly prescribed for treatment of pain during periods as a result of periodic spasms. It can be taken in subsequent months depending on the need. The side effects of use of Mefenamic acid is dose dependent. With therapeutic doses for short intervals hardly any reactions are known to occur, but longer duration of usage and higher doses can cause severe adverse effects. These include gastritis, diarrhea, bronchospasm, dizziness, urticaria and edema. You need to seek medical attention promptly in case such symptoms appear and becomes unbearable. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
