Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I've gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Meloxicam is a drug of oxicam class which works by inhibiting the synthesis of
prostaglandins in your body that are the mediators of pain and inflammation. The side effects that are mentioned in drug literature usually appear after prolong use of this drug and it is also not necessary that the side effects will almost always appear in a person so you don't need to worry about it. If I were your treating doctor, I would encourage you to continue this drug for a week or 2 so that the inflammation and pain in your foot subsides with the following precautions while taking it: Always take the tablets with meal. Take sufficient amount of fluids 2-3L per day for adequate hydration. Avoid
smoking and alcohol consumption during therapy. Do not take increased amounts of
Vitamin C, salicylate containing foods(curry powder, prunes, raisins, tea and licorice), medications containing
aspirin or salicylate and NSAIDs during the therapy. If you still are concerned and do not want to use this drug so you can use
paracetamol tablets upto 3 times daily.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Sarmad Raza
