Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was prescribed metronidazole for BV(bacterial vaginosis), which is very obviously an intravaginal infection. The metronidazole says not for intravaginal use , but everybody in web forums say they ve used it intravaginally. Was I prescribed the wrong version of this drug maybe? Should I be using it intravaginally even though it says not to? I ve read that metronidazole can be used for acne as well. Is my acne related to my BV? Can I use this drug for the BV and my acne? (Also, I m pregnant, is BV something I should worry about? I ve read it reoccurs for a lot of women ....)

Is Metronidazole Effective In Treating Acne?
Hello, Your acne is not related to the bacterial vaginosis. You can continue Metronidazole till BV settles, you can apply Clindamycin gel to test acne. If persists, better to consult a dermatologist and get evaluated. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
