Is Minoxidyl Safe For Hypothyroidism And Hairfall Treatment?
Hi . I have been diagnosed with hypothyrosis and am under hormone replacement therapy. I had a moderate hair loss and the dermatologist put me under minoxidyl. No very significant improvement but I read that minoxidyl should not be used in hypothyrosis. Could you please advice if I should use minoxidyl and if the thyroid problem that I have is somehow related to the hair loss and it will not improve.
Many patients may not improve in hair fall even after thyroid hormone replacement therapy. In that case minoxidyl ointment can be used. It is safe when used in hypothyroidism. It should be avoided in pregnancy and child bearing age.
Significant improvement take a long times with minoxidyl. So don't worry. It will take time. Continue daily use of minoxidyl.
Check your TSH also because sometimes under treated thyroid may be the reason.
