Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my wife gave birth to a child last month . now she cannot feed baby from her left breast . so she went to doctor and the doctor test her breast and told there is a milk stone on her left breast . so she wrote "monocef 200mg 1-0-1" is that safe to take antibiotic while feeding ?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
As per your complain Monocef contains active ingredient CEFTRIAXONE which is an antibiotic and is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections.. As far as intake during breast feeding is concerned, researches shows that Ceftriaxone is excreted in milk and can be transferred to the baby from the mother via milk.. So intake is done with caution in breast feeding mothers.. You should consult your gynaecologist and get proper consultation and advise.. Certain antibiotics that are considered safe during lactation are Penicillins, azithromycin, metronidazole, cephalosporins etc.. But any medicine should be taken only after advise with a Gynaecologist and Obstetrician..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora..
